Immediately after your treatment (Day 0):
Avoid applying water or any skincare products to the skin for the rest of the day. Keep the area clean and untouched—do not pick or touch your face unnecessarily. We recommend sleeping on a fresh, clean pillowcase.

Avoid exercise, heat, and sweating for at least 24 hours. Refrain from swimming pools, saunas, and steam rooms for 48 hours post-treatment.

Days 1–3 post-treatment:
Keep your skincare routine minimal and gentle. Use only a mild cleanser, a hydrating moisturiser, and SPF during the day. Mineral makeup can be used if needed.

Avoid all active ingredients, including AHA/BHA exfoliants, retinoids, vitamin C, and corrective serums during this period.

From Day 4 onwards:
As the skin begins to naturally flake, you may introduce a gentle physical exfoliation (no chemical exfoliants). Gradually reintroduce your active ingredients, depending on your skin’s tolerance.

For optimal results, skin needling is best performed every 4 weeks. This aligns with the skin’s natural cellular turnover cycle and allows us to progressively correct concerns such as acne, pigmentation, scarring, and overall skin quality.

Once a series of 4–5 treatments has been completed, sessions can be spaced out to every 6 weeks for maintenance. This helps sustain results while continuing to support collagen production and long-term skin health.

Skin needling is suitable for most skin types and concerns. However, it may not be recommended for certain conditions, including severe active acne, skin infections, fresh scars, raised moles in the treatment area.

This will be thoroughly discussed during your complimentary skin consultation, where your skin will be professionally assessed, your concerns reviewed, and a personalised treatment plan created.

If skin needling is not the most appropriate treatment for your skin, we offer a range of other effective corrective treatments and will guide you towards the best option to achieve your skin goals safely and effectively.

Following skin needling, it is normal to experience temporary side effects such as redness, mild swelling, tightness, and a warm, sunburn-like sensation. The skin may also feel slightly sensitive or reactive.

These responses are expected and typically resolve within a few days as the skin begins to heal and regenerate. If any symptoms persist beyond 48 hours or intensify, we recommend contacting your skin therapist for further guidance.

The number of treatments required will depend on your individual skin type, concerns, and desired outcomes.

For optimal results, a course of consistent treatments is recommended, typically a minimum of 4-6 sessions performed at monthly intervals. This approach allows for progressive improvement in skin texture, tone, and overall skin health.

Once your desired results have been achieved, maintenance treatments are recommended every 6-7 weeks to support ongoing collagen production and preserve long-term results.

From our perspective at ReSKN Studio, skin needling can be performed safely during pregnancy and breastfeeding when the treatment is appropriately customised.

During this time, treatments are tailored to support the skin through hormonal changes, helping to maintain skin balance and reduce reactivity. No active or contraindicated ingredients are applied during the procedure.

While results can vary, maintaining a consistent, gentle approach to skin health during pregnancy may also help support the skin and minimise the likelihood of concerns such as increased pigmentation.

As always, suitability will be assessed during your consultation to ensure the treatment is appropriate for your individual condition.

Proper timing between skin needling and injectable treatments is essential to ensure optimal results and minimise the risk of complications.

If you have had anti-wrinkle injections (toxins), we recommend waiting at least 2 weeks before undergoing skin needling. For dermal fillers, a longer interval of 4 weeks is advised to allow the product to fully integrate.

If skin needling is performed first, we generally recommend waiting at least 1 week before proceeding with injectable treatments, provided the skin has healed appropriately.
